Chairman Marc Watum on Co-creation at COP27

Updated: Dec 6, 2022

Marc Watum, Vision 2030 Fund chairman, presented theories of change surrounding the resolution of African poverty, hunger, and environmental vulnerabilities.

Marc Watum shared a panel on co-creation beside:

  • Maria Carmen Garcia Mateo (Senior Sustainability and R&I Adviser at European Commission Horizon 2020)

  • Ingrid Andersson (International Organisation for Knowledge and Enterprise Development)

  • Nico Tillie (TU Delft)

  • Niki Frantzeskaki (Utrecht University)

  • Serge Nakouzi (Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO. of the United Nations)

"What works for us is a concept called co-naturing. It requires local leadership which is perhaps the most obvious aspect of this.

But more profoundly it is about local ownership, design , participatory transfers of knowledge, and the integration of local & indigenous principles as learned by residents who have lived these realities for generations, echoing the bottom-up moniker.

I work with innovators who understand these complexities and give them the stage to build, manage, and teach - seeking replicability and regional integration of these solutions.

What we do at Vision 2030 is create purposed ecosystems that streamline inventors, ideators, entrepreneurs, even subversionists, through all of the key stages of the startup journey" shared Vision 2030 Fund chairman, Marc Watum.
